BACKGROUND
Engaging Europe’s young people as possible in the world of work, is one of the major challenges the European Union, and other regions of the world, face nowadays. High levels of youth unemployment and thus disengagement among young people are direct consequences of the global economic crisis suffered in the latest years, but are not the only factors.
Since 2010, the term NEET has been used at the policy level to describe young people not in employment, education or training. At the EU level a percentage of 14.2% of the population aged 15–29[1]. While at the global level NEETs varies widely according to both location and sex. According to the ILO Global Employment Trends for Youth 2017 report[2], young women are over three times more likely to be NEET than young men (34% of young women against 10% of young man are NEETs). Indeed, the proportion of youth NEET global estimation is 28.1%, 76.9 per cent of which are female.
AIM
In this context, Dialogue Café Association and its network members would like to analyse how social innovation can support NEET´ social inclusion and present initiatives community initiatives helping young people to change depressed NEET situations. Initiatives targeting and providing individualized and tailored attention and service to young people at risk of exclusion will be shared in this international session.
This session will allow us to debate on issues concerning prevention of this situation, the resources that need to be mobilised at the local level, as well as the mechanisms that must be promoted to offer better opportunities and solutions to young people.
The session will take place on 29 November 2018 from 15h to 17h London time and will join participants based in different cities such as Évora, Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro!

In the framework of Dialogue Café Global Exchange of Crafts Makers, we are organising a session on marketplaces and online platforms where crafts makers can sell their products and goods such as Tictail, Etsy, and other such as Dawanda, Artesanum, Amazon Handmade, Ezebee. Makers invited will also exchange experiences and share their testimonials on online business.

In today´s increasingly virtual world, making things by hand using centuries-old techniques, traditional crafts provided with a new design approach are fulfilling the market of online business and also starts-ups.
The main goal of the cycle Global Exchange of Crafts Makers is to promote exchanges and dialogue between different crafts makers around the world with the aim, in one hand, of identifying the challenges and opportunities of this promising creative sector in future economies, in the other hand, promoting a dialogue and transmission of know-how between traditional and innovative artisans, between senior and young generations.
In this framework, Dialogue Café Association and its members are organising a session on SME Management for creative minds with the aim of providing makers with key information on how to launch or strengthen their business and sharing information on toolkits and tools on business sustainability.

Fab Labs are much more than small-scale workshops offering digital fabrication services, these laboratories has shown an incredible potential to empower individuals, promoting maker culture and developing an open source movement that has an extremely powerful impact at the local level in the community. Moreover, Fab Labs offer to their communities the possibility of experimenting, learning and testing prototypes tailored to local or personal needs. Around Fab Labs movements and networks sharing same philosophy and technology are developed in cities around the globe.
Beside the important role, Fab Labs play as makerspaces, it´s crucial to support their capacities in terms of knowledge exchange, community sharing, markets and fab economy development as well as networking at the local, regional, national and international level. With this purpose, initiatives where fab labs and individuals can potentially share resources, funding, collaborations and expertise might be a strategic field of intervention for organisation such as Dialogue Café.
In this framework, Dialogue Café Association and its members will join efforts to bring together several representatives from Fab Labs based in those cities so that, they can share experiences, expertise and networking opportunities. During this session, users, makers, experts and organisations working with fab labs will be invited to present their thoughts and experiences. Following those presentations, a discussion on networking will take place with the aim of identifying follow-up activities and partnership opportunities.

With the aim of reducing waste and avoiding pollution, circular economy promotes greater resource productivity as well as being restorative and regenerative by design. In contrast to the linear economy based on ‘take, make, dispose’ model of production, the circular model builds economic, natural and social capital by relying on system-wide innovation, and redefining products and services to design waste out, while minimising negative impacts. The circular economy offers an opportunity to reinvent our economy, making it more sustainable and competitive as well as bringing benefits for businesses, industries, and citizens alike.

In this framework, it is important to define and implement strategies at the International, national and local level in order to deliver ambitious measures to cut resource use, reduce waste and boost recycling.
With the objective of disseminating circular economy strategies and iniciatives, Dialogue Café network is organising a “Circular Economy” on 10 July 2018 from 15h to 17h London time.
During this conference, special speakers based in Évora (EvoraTech by ADRAL), Lisbon (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation) and Rio de Janeiro (Candido Mendes University) will be invited to address the main challenges for the development of circular economy strategies and share successful experiences on the implementation of initiatives at the local level so that, young entrepreneurs aimed at developing sustainable initiatives will be better informed, have access to knowledge and experience mutual learning.

OVERVIEW
The main goal of the cycle Global Exchange of Crafts Makers is to promote exchanges and dialogue between different crafts makers around the world with the aim, in one hand, of identifying the challenges and opportunities of this promising creative sector in future economies, in the other hand, promoting a dialogue and transmission of know-how between traditional and innovative artisans, between senior and young generations.
Indeed, in today´s increasingly virtual world, making things by hand using centuries-old techniques, traditional crafts provided with a new design approach are fulfilling the market of online business and also starts-ups. In this context, crafts are also used as language for gentle protest and social change. Indeed, Craftivism is a form of activism addressing anti-capitalism, environmentalism, feminism or any other social issue or cause. Centered on practices of handicrafts, craftivism includes various forms of needlework among many other as ceramics, screen-printing, paperwork, wood, glass, illustration, etc.
In this framework, Dialogue Café Association and its members in Novi Pazar, Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon, are organising a session on Craftivism with the aim of sharing information about initiatives using crafts a powerful tool for gentle protest, social change, collective empowerment, personal development, but also action, expression and networking. During the session experts, makers and organisations from Portugal, Serbia and Brasil will be invited to present their knowledge, resources and share their experiences.
The session will take place next 23 November from 15h to 17h Lisbon time / 13h to 15h Rio de Janeiro time.
