Dialogue Café Novi Pazar was founded as a part of the UN project “Improving Human Security for Vulnerable Communities in southwest Serbia”.
The first session organised by DC Novi Pazar took place on 25 March 2015 on the topic “Interethnic, interreligious trust, dialogue and cooperation – examples of best practice”, and the official opening and second session on the topic “Minority rights, non-discrimination and gender equality in the light of EU Candidate status – experiences of new EU member states” on 1 April 2015.
DC Novi Pazar – Opening
The third session is scheduled for 27 April 2015 on the topic “Integration of minorities, community cohesion – EU experiences”. The region of southwest Serbia and the city of Novi Pazar is multi-ethnic and multiconfessional and the issue of minority integration is therefore very important for strengthening the community.
Serbia is an EU accession candidate country and EU standards and experiences are important for the realisation of minority rights. It will be useful to hear experiences from the representatives of other countries where other DC are based on the integration of minorities in their countries and regions.
With this purpose a session is organised between DC Novi Pazar (Centar Duga), DC Lisbon (Calouste Gulbekian Foundation), DC Florence (Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights) and with the participation of DC Rio de Janeiro (UCAM University) on the topic of integration of minorities.
The session, to be held next Monday 27 April from 14h00 to 15h30 (London time), aims at promoting exchange of good practices and dialogue in the framework of the European Union.
