Design Battle and Action for Age at Dialogue Cafe! 1

Lots of fun stuff happening at Dialogue Cafe this week! Here are some of the highlights.

On 13th July, we had Maria Coutinho from Design Battle talking about Creativity in the Global World with Susana Branco and Sandra Reit in Lisbon and Franklin Arturo, Jennifer Sant’anna and Karlili Trindade in Rio de Janeiro. They talked about the interactions between street entrepreneurs and customers and the need to consider mechanisms to protect and develop a balanced local economy for small businesses.

On 14th July, we have Luis Jeronimo from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation with Pedro Rocha Vieira and Nuno Coelho in Lisbon telling us about the Action for Age project – which started out as a way of exploring the role of design in providing an alternative response to the growing challenges of an ageing population. They were joined in Rio by Flavia Chueire and Viviane Costa.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to take part on the amazing dialogue cafe experience. Based on two projects we are currently developing on Social Design – Intergenerationall and Action for Age – together with ThinkPublic and ExperimentaDesign, we discussed how to use design tools to foster social innovation. The discusssion was so fruitful specially because the dialogue cafe platform really makes you feel that we are all on the same table, even if one half of it is sitted on the other side of ocean. Dialogue Cafe has huge pontential but you only notice that once you used it, so don’t miss the chance to check it with your own eyes. This is not just a technological advance, Dialogue Cafe is a platform for social innovation.
